Crafty: The evil queens mirror

I got inspired by the snow white movies coming soon and the show "once upon a time" to make a themed craft and since I've had a wood frame mirror from Michael's lying around for three months I decided to make the evil queens mirror. (2 day project)

Supplies
(all supplies bought from Michael's)
  • 9x11 wood frame mirror
  • Laser cut frame
  • Habanero high gloss acrylic paint (Martha Stewart)
  • Beetle black high gloss acrylic paint (Martha Stewart)
  • Candy apple glitter acrylic paint (Martha Stewart)
  • 3 sponge brushes
  • Red felt
  • Green felt
  • needle
  • Red and green DMC
  • Tacky glue
  • Wood glue
  • Black licorice fine glitter (Martha Stewart)
    Instructions
1. Paint the mirror frame in 2 coats of Habanero
2. Paint over red with 1 coat of candy apple glitter paint

3. Paint the laser cut frame in Beetle black

4. Use wood glue to attach laser cut frame to mirror frame (go easy on the glue or it will come out of every gap) and tape down with painters tape, or masking tape, if you don't have clamps. Let dry for at least a day.

5. For good measure I used 3/4 inch nails to secure the laser cut frame.

6. Paint inside and outside of frame opening.

7. Draw a pattern for a 1 1/2 inch apple and little leaf, cut out of felt, sew apple together, and sew on leaf (I added a little bite with pinking shears).

8. Use tacky glue to attach apple to top left of laser cut frame.

9. Using a black marker write "mirror, mirror, on the wall" on the mirror. Using a thin detail paintbrush go over the letters in  black paint and sprinkle with fine black glitter while paint is still wet.

10. Let everything dry then hang up your mirror!
